11 policemen killed in Afghan checkpoints attack


Kabul, May 30 (IANS): At least 11 Afghan police personnel were killed when Taliban militants attacked security checkpoints in Helmand province, police said on Monday.

The militants raided the checkpoints in Bayzo area, Gereshk district, on Sunday night resulting in a fierce gunfight, a police official told Xinhua news agency.

"The battle killed 11 policemen while seven others were injured another seven were reported missing following the clashes," the official said.
