Mangalore, Oct 31: National highway bundh received a good response here on Tuesday October 30. Express buses running between Udupi and the city proclaimed their support for the bundh and stopped bus service on Tuesday.
The bundh call was given to protest against the pathetic condition of the National Highway 17. At the same time, various competitions were organized on different points of the highways.
The city bus service up to Suratkal was not affected by the bundh as trucks, lorries and bullet tankers were allowed to ply up to Suratkal only.
Passengers here informed that all buses are not plying towards Kasaragod and B C Road side. In spite of the bundh passengers were not affected so much by this highway bundh as agitators had publicized and given sufficient notice about the bundh, well in advance.
Meanwhile, the semester exams of the Mangalore University which was scheduled for Tuesday, October 30 was postponed by the registrar of the University, sources here informed.

On the other hand as reported earlier in these columns, the highway turned into a virtual sports field as agitators exhibited their various talents. In certain places mock musical programmes, DJ programmes, cock fights too were held. But the bundh was total and peaceful. No unwanted incident was reported from anywhere.
