Some of judiciary's directives 'senseless': Parrikar

Panaji, May 30 (PTI): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today criticised judiciary claiming that some of the directives given by it are "senseless" and "without any scientific basis".

"Senseless directions are being given without any scientific basis. Some people who do not understand science have begun interpreting it," he said while speaking at a public function here.

"I was reading a report about Mercedes Benz company. They have stopped investment in India because they say the decisions of the court are beyond the limit of understanding. (They say) we don't understand the logic of banning diesel vehicles.

"We understand that you can ban diesel vehicles which are polluting but what is the point in banning a diesel vehicle which may not pollute or be less polluting than the petrol vehicle," Parrikar said.

The minister was addressing a gathering here after inaugurating a Solid Waste Management Facility in Saligao- Calangute plateau.

He said garbage and sewerage treatment is a "major scam" area as even those built as part of the central schemes are left unaudited.

"The garbage and sewerage treatment is a major scam area. Ninety per cent of the toilets built under Central government schemes goes into disuse after three to four years," Parrikar said.

"Some people use these toilets to pile woodstock. Some people don't even use it for the purpose it is built. But no one can audit it. How can one audit whether toilet is functional or not without using it?" he asked.

The Minister said garbage treatment has become a big business across the country.
"There are vested interests in this sector...Comptroller and Auditor General audits everything but I have not seen the audit of the garbage treatment. Who will dare go in the dump of garbage?" he said.

The solid waste management facility inaugurated today has the capacity to treat 100 tonnes of garbage per day, which will be collected from North Goa's coastal belt.

When he has sense less, he won't understand what they have directed, as he proved in Rajya Sabha he made senseless allegations & speculations rather than concrete proof against those whom he made the charge.
With his peculiar accent of spoken language he made us think is he the right choice for defense minister of a Nation which is 5th largest in the World.

Parrikar should learn from Dr Manmohan Singh how to speak on issues which are sensitive and can harm the image of a constitutional office. At times we too find Parrikar senseless when he defends his attacks on the Augusta Deal. Unfortunately the Aam Aadmi cannot question his parliamentary privilege.Post recently held elections no news about Augusta deal after his party could win only 62 seats out of 825.

A minister of the 'Anti-science govt ' is teaching 'scientific base' to the Court. What a paradox! Mr Parikkar your govt and your PM himself is against science. At the last Indian Science Congress, several members of the BJP government led a session on ancient Indian science and claimed that thousands of years ago, Indians had built planes that could fly not just on earth but between planets. There were other outlandish claims — that the elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesha is proof that Indian ancients knew the secrets of cosmetic surgery, that Vedic Indians knew about Nuclear physics etc. Our PM himself has endorsed these views at several gatherings. Raghavendra Gadagkar, president of the venerated Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi, recently expressed his anguish, saying that “Indian science suffers today more than ever from government apathy“. This is the same govt that has scrapped the Science Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (SAC-PM). A govt which consults more Babas and Gurus than scientists for heralding development, has lost morality to talk about 'scientific base'

If anybody wants to prove this...just read J Jayalalita judgement given by trial judge convicting her...and High Court judge acquitting her of corruption charges...Judge who acquitted her could not even properly count...

All judgement's of courts should be available in a judicial website...so people will know quality of these judges!!!...
