Maoists kill police officer in Jharkhand


Ranchi, May 31 (IANS): A police officer was abducted and shot dead by Maoist guerrillas in Gumla district of Jharkhand, police said on tuesday.

According to the police, the bullet ridden body of Badrinath Tiwari alias Vinod Tirkey, inspector at Chainpur police station, was found on Tuesday.

Maoist pamphlets were also found near the body which was later sent for post-mortem, the police said.

Few years ago another inspector posted in Khuti district was abducted and beheaded by the maoists.

Maoist Guerrillas are active in 18 of the state's 24 districts.
