Mumbai, May 31: Model bank which started a century ago as Model Cooperative bank opened their 18th branch at Vasai west on Sunday, May 29.
Vasai diocese vicar general Fr Nazareth Gabru conducted prayers and blessed the new branch. The bank's executive president Albert W D'Souza presided over the function. Deutsche Bank former director Richard Falcao cut the ribbon, lit the traditional lamp and inaugurated the branch.
Albert W D'Souza in his presidential address said that the bank can grow with the growth of a customer base.
“We have plans of starting branches all over Maharashtra. The bank pays the highest rates of interest on deposits and charges lowest rates on loans. We like to extend our services through core banking software,” he said.
The deputy vice president William J Sequeira, general manager and CEO William L D'Souza, directors Marita D'Mello and Ancy D'Souza were present on the dais. Directors Fr Oswald Gonsalves, Valerian Dias, Michael Dias, building owner Stany Colaco and John Colaco, Victor D'Cunha, Sathu Lopen, Pramila V Mathais, Philomena C Lobo, King Edward, Silvester Peres, Vasai Konkani Welfare Association president Reginald Santhumayor, office bearers Richard Louis D'Souza, Albert D'Costa, Abraham Clement Lobo, Thomas D Lobo, Vincent Mathais, Benedicta Rebello, Paul Nazareth, Sanjay Shinde, additional general manager Herald M Serrao, shareholders, local customers and well wishers were present.
Rose Mary read the Bible. Edward Rasquinha introduced the guests and compered the programme. The branch manager Gauldin Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with national anthem.
