Moodbidri: Alangar Church Celebrates 'Vhodlem Fest' - Pics

Moodbidri, Nov 1: The season of annual feasts or 'vhodlem fest' of churches in Mangalore diocese began with Our Lady of Rosary Church of Alangar near here celebrating the feast on Wednesday October 31.

Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, vicar general of the Mangalore diocese offered the festal mass which began at 10.30 am.  Fr Stany Goveas, parish priest of Cathedral church preached a touching homily on Our Lady of Rosary.

Fr Alban D'Souza, dean of Moodbidri deanery, Fr Mark D'Silva of Shimoga and more than 30 priests concelebrated the Solemn Eucharist.  A melodious choir under the baton of choir master Herald Tauro was the highlight of the entire ceremony.

Alangar parish's telephone director 'Moga Ulo' was released on the occasion by Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu.  At the end of the celebration Alangar parish priest Fr Vincent D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks.

A fair outside the church with fame 'tambde gulle', ice creams, toys, cosmetics and other things was indeed a special attraction for children who were found busy bargaining and purchasing items of their choice.

    Really nice to see this church feast. Happy feast to all the parishioners, esp Fr. Vincient. Last year i was there for d feast. May god give u the grace to fulfill every plan that he has in store for this parish. all d best fr.

    The name "Allangar" gave us the flashback of memories of our visit to that church last year. We travelled early hours of one Sunday morning from Mangalore just to listen to the choir of Alangar Parish because we have in our possession a nice cd that was recorded by the Parish, which cd we play so often because the music and lyrics is "out of the world". We were so thrilled to witness how the entire congregation takes part in the liturgical services. India should be proud of our tens of thousands of villages, because those villages display a high splendour of heritage and history of our great country where secularism prevails with so much of freedom, peace and harmony.
