6.5 magnitude quake hits Indonesia


Jakarta, Jun 2 (IANS): An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale struck Indonesia's Sumatra island on Thursday.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located some 50 km deep and 91 km west of the city of Sungaipenuh, according to the US Geological Survey.

Strong tremors were felt at 5.56 a.m. across the western Sumatra region.

No damages or casualties were reported.
