Udupi: Pedestrian dies in accident near Puttur

Udupi, Jun 4: In a road accident which took place near Lord Laxmi Venkatesha temple at Puttur in the outskirts of the city on the night of Thursday June 2, a woman lost her life.

The victim has been identified as Girija Poojary (50), a resident of Abbanakudru in Uppoor village near here. It is gathered that Girija was standing by the side of the road for crossing the highway in front of the above temple, when a car which came that way at high speed from the direction of Santhekatte and moving towards Ambagilu hit her with force. Girija, who fell to the ground, sustained serious injuries.

She was taken to KMC Hospital Manipal immediately. But she did not survive the journey to the hospital, it is gathered. A case about the accident was registered in the traffic police station here.
