11 killed in car bomb attack in Turkey


Ankara, Jun 7 (IANS): Seven police personnel and four civilians were killed with over 30 others injured on Tuesday in an attack targeting a police vehicle in Turkey's Istanbul city.

A bomb-laden car was detonated as the vehicle was passing by a police station, according to Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin.

The police vehicle was heading to the Istanbul University for regular duty, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

Gunshots were heard after the explosion, officials said.
