Key Indian equity indices close higher


Mumbai, June 7 (IANS): Key Indian equity market indices provisionally closed higher on Tuesday, following the accommodative monetary policy stance of the Reserve Bank of India.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) provisionally ended 232.22 points or 0.87 percent up.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also ended 65.40 points or 0.80 percent up at 8,266.45 points.

The BSE Sensex, which opened at 26,833.54 points, ended the day's trade provisionally at 27,009.67 points (at 03.54 p.m.), up 232.22 points or 0.87 percent from the previous day's close at 26,777.45 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 27,082.63 points and a low of 26,829.53 points in the trade so far.
