Mangaluru, Jun 7: “The resignation of deputy superintendent of police (DySP) of Kudligi, Anupama Shenoy has saddened us,” said members of Raja Kesari Youth Club (RKYC), Ganjumata and Youth Chamber Mangaluru in a press meet here on Tuesday, June 7.

“This is not the first time but there were attempts to transfer Anupama for silly reason. For not attending minister’s call, the transfer of DySP is not acceptable. The officer was approached by Dalit Samiti with a complaint that the owner of a bar at Kudligi was constructing a building which would block the path to Ambedkar Bhavan. Based on this complaint, Anupama, summoned bar owner, Rajanikanth, and his associates, Ravi and Krishnamurthy to police station and warned them against getting involved with illegal construction.”

“Reportedly, these persons wield enormous influence. Soon they complained to the director general of police of the state, superintendent of police, and others, claiming to have been tortured by Anupama. On Saturday, some organizations including a few which espouse the cause of Veerashaiva community, held protest in front of her office. It is said that pained by these unwarranted developments, the police officer tendered her resignation.”

She came under fire from the ministers and influential people. On the outset, it seems like state labour minister, P T Parameshwara Naik, who happens to be the district in-charge minister for the district and his associate Ravi are involved in this.

“The attitude of government does not seem to support honest official. This was even evident in D K Ravi, Sonia Narang and Anupama case. We condemn this attitude. We also urge the government not to accept Anupama's resignation and convince her to rejoin. Honest officials like Anupama are very essential for the department.”

Rajashekarananda Swamiji, Vajradehi Mutt, Gurupura, Shyama Sudarshana Bhat, president youth chamber Mangaluru, K R Shetty, youth chamber Mangaluru and Praveen Ganjimata, president, Raaja Kesari Youth Club, Ganjumata were present during the press meet.
