Mangaluru, Jun 9: Congress leader Kallige Tharanath Shetty slammed Kavu Hemanath Shetty former Puttur block Congress president for his remarks against former union minister B Janardhan Poojary.
Speaking in a press meet, at Hotel Woodlands here on Thursday June 9, Kallige Tharanath Shetty said, “Kavu Hemantha Shetty has lost his conscious. He should be admitted to NIMHANS for his criticism against Poojary. If he wants we will make all the arrangements and get him admitted in hospital.”
“When Hemanath Shetty's wife Anitha Shetty contested for ZP elections for the first time, Janardhana Poojary supported her. Even when she contested for the second time Janardhana Poojary made padhayatre at Kumbra seeking vote in favour of Anitha Shetty. He even approached Poojary seeking MLA ticket from Puttur constituency. He became Puttur block Congress president because of Janardhana Poojary.”
“Janardhana Poojary was close to the then Prime ministers like Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Narismiha Rao. Indira Gandhi called him as ‘Poor man's Poojary'. When Congress government came to power in state, Poojary had power to demand for the positions for his loyal members but Poojary did not dispute party decision. During MLA elections Hemanath Shetty had conspired against Congress candidates like Sankappa Rai, Sudhakar Shetty, Bondala Jaganath Shetty, Shakunthala Shetty in various MLA elections,” he said.
“He will be sacked from Congress party if this continues. We are ready to take legal action and he should be ready to face consequences. We are sincere followers of Janardhana Poojary and Congress party.”
Slamming the delegation against Poojary without naming anyone, he said “There are people behind Kavu Hemanath Shetty. If these people have guts let them come openly against Poojary.”
Former Mayor Mahabala Marla, Former Mayor Gulzar Banu, corporator Appi, Arun Cohelo and Umesh Chandra were present.
