Udupi, Jun 11: A recruiting agent in Mumbai has cheated Gulf aspirants of Rs 10 lac after assuring them of jobs.

Sandesh, a resident of Kodavooru grama had asked his friends Ganesh and Ivan from Mangaluru for assistance on visa to go abroad. Ivan said that he will get the visa after speaking to his friend Sagar Markare. Sandesh later collected Rs 2,50,000 from his friend Shivaprasad and sent a total amount of Rs 5 lac to the address of Sagar Markare, E Globus Travel Enterprises Private Limited at Rs 2,50,000 per visa. As the amount was remitted through the bank, he has proof of the remittance.

On not receiving the visa even after six months nor a response to the telephone calls and as his friends Ganesh and Ivan did not answer his inquiries, Sandesh conducted his own investigations and found out that Mumbai's Globus Travel Enterprises Private Limited had shut down.

It is said that Ganesh and Ivan Mangaluru had collected Rs 2,50,000 each from Sandesh's friends Sagar and Anil promising them visas against the total cheated amount of Rs 10 lac.

A police case is registered at Malpe police station.
