OnePlus, Uber to give away VR headsets for free


New Delhi, June 13 (IANS): Global mobile technology startup OnePlus has partnered with online cab service Uber to offer customers the OnePlus Loop Virtual Reality (VR) headset for free at their doorsteps within minutes of booking a cab on Uber app.

The on-demand VR headset delivery service has been launched in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai and Chandigarh, a statement said here on Monday. 

"As we have received several requests to offer more OnePlus Loop VR headsets to experience the OnePlus 3 launch in VR, we are partnering with Uber to give our fans a last-minute opportunity to get their hands on VR headsets right at their doorsteps within minutes of booking,” said Vikas Agarwal, general manager (India) at OnePlus.

The headsets come bundled with OnePlus 3 smartphone.

The headsets can be ordered on June 14 from 3 p.m. onwards by logging into the Uber app.

OnePlus sold 30,000 Loop VR headsets in five seconds on Amazon's app-only flash sale on June 7.

OnePlus has partnered with AntVR to make the Loop VR headsets which is upgraded from last year's cardboard version.
