Mangaluru: Sexual harassment of boy - accused held

Mangaluru, Jun 15: In an incident which occurred at Nehrunagar Someshwar in Ullal on Monday June 13 afternoon, a person who claimed himself as collector of scrap allegedly harassed a boy sexually. A complaint in this respect was filed in Ullal police station, and the accused has been booked under Prevention of Sexual Offences against Children Act.

The accused has been identified as Muhammed Ashraf, residing near Renjady mosque in Deralakatte.

On Monday aftrernoon, Ashraf had visited a home in Nehrunagar for buying scrap if any. A 11-year-old boy was alone at his home, as both his parents were away at work. The boy told Ashraf that waste materials had been dumped behind his house, after which Ashraf entered the house of the boy and began to sexually harass him. After the boy raised an alarm, locals gathered, caught hold of the offender, and handed him over to Ullal police.
