Bengaluru, Jun 16: A lady tried to end her life by consuming poison, alleging that she was assaulted by policemen. The incident occurred at Lakkenahalli within the limits of Madanayakanahalli station in the outskirts of the city on Wednesday June 15.

Some villagers had planned to lay water pipeline through the land belonging to the family of the lady, identified as Shwetha. Shwetha had stoutly objected to this plan. After a fight erupted on this issue, a local named Prabhu reportedly attacked the lady. Shwetha visited the said police station on June 8 to file complaint relating to this incident. But the police refused to accept the complaint, and instead, attacked her, she has alleged.

Shwetha claims that some people from her village had used their clout to influence the police not to accept her complaint. "I was beatenup by the police and subjected to atrocity. Feeling that we have no way to seek justice, I got frustrated and tried to end my life," she explained.

Shwetha stands admitted into Sparsh Hospital in Yashwantpura in the city where she is being treated. Senior officials said they will investigate the incident of non-acceptance of complaint and take action against guilty officials.
