Beltangady: Thieves target temple, steal items worth Rs 3 lac

Beltangady, Jun 16: Thieves went into Anaru Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple at Patrame village in the taluk by breaking open the rear door of the temple on the night of Tuesday June 14. The theft came to light when the priest of the temple reached the temple premises on Wednesday June 15 morning for prforming morning puja.

Silver armours of Goddess Durgaparameshwari and Lord Ganapati idols, golden Karimani chain worn around the neck of presiding deity, two ear lobes, two nose rings, silver plates, utensils, silver pitchers, Aaratis made of bronze etc were stolen. The thieves also broke open the donation box of the temple and took away contents.

The thieves yanked away side door of the temple sanctum sanctorum by using an iron rod to reach the interiors.

Police circle inspector from here, Nemiraj, sub-inspector of Dharmasthala station, Madhava Koodlu, sniffer dogs, finger print experts etc visited the spot and helped in investigation. A case has been registered in Dharmasthala police station.

In a complaint, hereditary trustee of the temple, Devapal Ajri, told the Dharmasthala police that temple assets worth over three lac rupees had been stolen.

    Not only police, locals also keep an eye on migrants of their activities. Most of the north indian migrants came south india for theft. If one watch north indian channels will understand them better.
