Bhubaneswar, June 17 (IANS): The southwest monsoon has finally set in over some parts of Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday.

"It has covered the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and also some portions of the adjoining districts of Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati," said a bulletin of the Met Office at Bhubaneswar.

The Met Office said conditions are favourable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into remaining parts of the state over the next 2-3 days.

There was a delay in the arrival of monsoon in the state.

The IMD, however, said according to its projections the state would receive more than the normal rainfall this year.
