Mangaluru, Jun 17: "For several years, minorities and unemployed youth of Dakshina Kannada have been leading life running maxicab and taxi service through loans from the bank. After the government gave
permission for Ola cabs to run, employees of maxicabs and taxis have been put through hardships and this has affected their livelihood," reported Canet D'Souza secretary of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Karmikara
Parishath (R) and maxicab-taxi driver owners association (R). He addressed a press meet here on Friday June 17.


He further said, "The government favours the rich and has provided permission for Ola cabs to run their service. The government does not worry about the poor maxicab and taxi drivers. They are in a similar situation as the 1,000 farmers who committed suicide. During elections politicians give false assurances to the poor. The government must cancel the permission of Ola cabs to run, thereby providing oppurtunity for the poor to lead their life."

    Let me put it this way.......you want to charge exorbitant to the customers hence wud not allow taxi services which charge much lower than your price......tomorrow u will say bigger shops hav to shut down bcos u cannot compete with them.....how fair is this......wat if it was price of petrol instead of taxi fair.......wud u buy costly fuel wen cheaper one is available......how fair is ur demand?
