Mangaluru, Jun 17: The district administration in association with Mangaluru City Corporation, district legal service authority and Karnataka state pollution control board (KSPCB), jointly organised ‘World Environment Day 2016’ at the Town Hall here, on June 17.
At this event, Inland Windsors, the prestigious residential project from the Inland Group situated at Airport Road, Mary Hill, Mangaluru, was awarded the ‘Environment Excellence Award’.
The ‘Environment Excellence Award’ was awarded to Inland Windsors for the best and most efficient environmental conservation systems in a residential building.
This award was decided by an eminent panel of jurists consisting of, Prof G Srinikethan NITK, Mangaluru, Rammohan Pai Maroor, president KCCI, Gokuldas Nayak, JD, DIC Mangaluru, Padmanabha Gowda, RD (Environment), Nanjappa, senior deputy director, factories and boilers, Murthy, Rep from dept of mines and geology, Mangaluru, and Rajashekar Puranik, EO, KSPCB, Mangaluru.
The systems and practices instituted at Inland Windsors which contribute tremendously to the conservation of environment by using energy efficient equipments, recycling and reuse and which convinced the judges to give the award include the following:
1.STP OF 150kld capacity. Treated water is used for flushing and gardening purpose. Sludge is used as manure. STP was also installed during construction stage.
2.Roof rain water harvesting done by installation of rain water harvesting filters. Water is being treated effectively and reused for domestic purpose.
3.Energy efficient lights and LED’s used for passages, common area and outdoors so as to reduce the consumption of electricity.
4.Fully acoustic diesel generator installed at site thereby eliminating the noise pollution.
5.More than 50 feet open setback left all-round the building and around 24% of the area reserved for landscaping.
6.Design of the building ensuring maximum natural light and ventilation most of the time to reduce consumption of power.
7.Garbage chute installed at site with chute opening at every floor thereby ensuring effective garbage/solid waste management.
8.Separate Overhead Tank and Underground Tank provided for fresh water and STP treated water.
Chairman and managing director of Inland group Siraj Ahamed and director Wahaj Yusuf received the award from Minister Ramanath Rai and MLA J R Lobo.
It may be noted that this is the sixth award conferred on Inland Windsors, which has also received the highly coveted Nationalaward ‘Suraksha Puraskar-2011’ in recognition of developing and implementing effective management systems and procedures and very good performance in occupational safety and health.
