Goa, Nov 8: The festival of light is here once again. Diwali is a festival that marks the victory of good over evil and spreads the divine message of unity and brotherhood.

Every year the night before Diwali witnesses the burning of Narkasur - a demon from the Hindu mythology - effigies across the state, only after which each household starts lighting the 'Happy Diwali' lamps.
This year was different for the Goans. Heavy, torrential rains hit the state on Wednesday evening thus spoiling the whole excitement of the enthusiastic Goans. The incessant raisn damaged hundreds of Narkasura effigies all over as a result of which many Narkasur burning competitions were called off.
But, in the end, the rain too could not get the better of the enthusiastic Goans and in spite of the heavy rain some competitions were carried out at some places in the state. Overall it was a mix and match kind of a Diwali for the Goans this year.
