Mangaluru: Louis Lobo elected president of KORWA

Mangaluru, Jun 21: Konkan Overseas Returnees Welfare Association (KORWA) a social service organisation in Mangaluru, held its extraordinary general body meeting recently at Olives in Kadri here. The main agenda of the meeting was the election of the new executive committee for the period 2016 – 2018.

The meeting commenced at 5.30 pm with the opening prayer lead by Flora Hislop. President Louis Lobo heartily welcomed the gathering and expressed his gratitude towards all the members for their support, love and encouragement. He also thanked the sponsors , well wishers, media friends and people who provide their continual support to KORWA.

A short presentation highlighting the achievements of KORWA, to its committee members for the term 2014 – 2016 was given to the audience by Jessy Pinto, secretary, which was well received and appreciated by all. Vilma Menezes, treasurer presented the financial report and it was approved by the members.

The election commission led by Archie Menezes then began with the proceedings of electing the new committee. Louis Lobo was unanimously re- elected president.

The new committee is as below:

President- Louis Lobo , vice president- Elias Sanctis , general secretary - Meera D Souza, joint secretary Vilma Menezes, treasurer Ronald Gomes, cultural secretary- John Fernandes , PRO- Lawrence Lobo , co-coordinator - members affairs- Jessy Pinto.

The audience applauded the newly elected committee and Louis Lobo, KORWA’s president for the upcoming term thanked and sought everyone’s support and co-operation for a successful tenure.

Meera D Souza, newly elected secretary proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude towards everyone who have supported KORWA.
