Udupi, Nov 9: A memorandum will be submitted to the governor Rameshwar Thakoor, against the proposed Suzlon wind power project in the areas that come under the limits of Hejamady, Palimar and Padubidri gram panchayat (GP), by the residents who are threatened to be rendered homeless, owing to the setting up of the proposed wind energy project, stated former minister Vasant V Salian.
He was speaking at the gathering of likely victims of the project, which was held at Padubidri GP auditorium on Tuesday November 6.
Salian expressed displeasure over a practicing lawyer in the city, who seems to have shown lukewarm response to file the case against Suzlon, when he was approached on behalf of the victims. Moreover this matter will be reported to the Bar council and state Bar Association.
Salian urged the district administration to provide information on any mega industries which are likely to set up project in the district.
It will be stated in the memorandum, that to provide employment to the affected families, transparency in administration, to provide appropriate road connectivity in the vicinity of project, to make storm water drains within the area proposed to set up the project and other demands.
Mitun Hegde, vice-president of Padubidri GP, Subash Salian, president of Hejamady GP, Karunakar Shetty, president, Palimar GP and others were present at the meet.
