Mangalore, Nov 10: An agitation will be launched from November 20 informed BJP’s State unit president D V Sadananda Gowda for the introduction of passenger train services between Bangalore and Mangalore.
Addressing media persons here on Friday, Nov 9 he said that people had lost faith in the promises made by politicians, including those from BJP. However, according to Gowda his party had made promises based on the assurances, made by the railway ministers and authorities. He clarified the party stand on the matter that the railways had till date not responded to the letter written by him on the issue.
The reaction of the Railway board chairman K C Jena to the BJP’s elected representative was improper and not in keeping with the prestige of his high office. He charged that the railway authorities failed to hear the grievances of the elected representatives and now when his party has planned to launch an agitation, this plan has evoked the ire of one of the authorities, declared Sadananda Gowda.
Minister of state railway R Velu said in Bangalore that rain services between Bangalore and Mangalore would begin by November 15. He further informed that he had written to the railways after that statement to get a confirmation but there was no response.
In view of all these developments, according to Gowda the party now has no other option but to launch an agitation. He therefore sought the cooperation of the people as it would cause inconvenience to them. The details of the agitation will be announced in a couple of days, he added.
