Mangalore, Nov 11: Ayurveda helps in steady recovery of bone fracture and join pains without any side effects, said Prof G S Raju, Kotakkal Ayurveda Shala, Kerala.
Delivering a lecture on ‘Ayurvedic Treatment for Bone Fracture and Join Pains,’ at a three-day national Ayurveda conference organised by Alva’s Ayurveda College recently in Moodabidri, Prof Raju said, “Ayurveda can provide better and more effective treatment for bone fracture and joint pain related problems.”
The conference focused on the methods of Ayurveda treatment for different ailments and discussed their application in modern days.
Bone and joint pains are one among the oldest health problems in the world. “This has aggravated in modern days due to change in life style,” the professor observed adding, “However, the ancient Ayurveda texts deal in detail with different types of bone fractures and joint pains. They suggest treatments which are quite effective.”
Speaking about old age related diseases, G S Acharya, associate professor, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Udupi, observed that old age related problems like greying and hair loss, joint pain can be controlled with regulated life style along with herbal medicines.
“Ayurveda treatment and medicines are suitable for old people as they are free from side effects,” he said.
Focusing on the much debated method of Rasayana treatment in Ayurveda, Madhav Diggave, lecturer, Pandit Taranath Ayurveda College, said that there have been many misconceptions regarding Rasayana treatment. “Though different types of metals are used in Rasayana system, they do not cause any side effects. Rasayana system is useful in treating hereditary diseases,” he said.
