Udupi, Nov. 11: Sri Vishvesh Theertha Award distribution ceremony is being organized by Yakhagana Kalaranga on Sunday, November 11 at the Poorna Prajna College hall to felicitate the artists who are widely believed to be one of the most disorganized and sidelined segment of the society.
The distribution of awards will be done by Pejawar Seer Sri Vishveshtheertha. The names of the eight awardees is as follows viz., Dr B B Shetty award, prof B V Acharya award, Nittur Sunder Shetty award, Naranappa Uppur award, Ramakrishna Hebbar-Vadiraj Hebbar award, Kota Vaikunta award, Padaru Narasimha Shastri award.
Moreover, there is the Smt and Sri H R Kedlay award which is being given to eight outstanding individuals in the field of Yakshagana (thenku and badaguthittu). The Sri Vishvesh Theertha award this year goes to Bharathi Kala Sadan of Yedaneeru Matt.
Manipal University pro-chancellor Dr H S Ballal is presiding while former MP Vinaya Kumar Sorake is the chief guest on the occasion.
