Udupi, Jun 26: Pallathadka Kumara Prasad (41), son of well-known botanist, naturist, and environmentalist, the late Dr Pallathadka Keshava Bhat, was murdered at Venezuela on Friday June 24, as per information received here. Keshava Bhat had lived at Dashrathnagar Manipal after retiring from his job at Cumana, Venezuela.
Prasad, an engineering graduate, who was unmarried, has left behind mother and three elder sisters. He was also conducting botanical research in the land bought by his father there when in service as senior professor of Botany.
Keshava Bhat propagated principles of simple living, alternative scientific methods, and benefits of holistic living. He had also undertaken widespread activities on these subjects in coastal Karnataka and had authored several books. Likewise, Prasad, who was trained by his father in these subjects, and had in-depth knowledge about environment, botany etc used to spread awareness about the need to follow healthy ways of living and consuming simple, healthy food.
Prasad had toured several countries including Venezuela, Chili, USA, India, Germany, Spain and other countries to advocate principles of simple and healthy lifestyles, which were close to his heart. Like his father, Prasad argued that modern way of living and modern medicines were in fact contributing to ill health.
