Mangalore: Society of Dentistry opened in City

Mangalore, Nov 12: The newly-formed society of dentistry- The Indian Society of Prosthodontics-Restorative-Periodontics (ISPRP) was inaugurated at the Taj Manjuran hotel in the city on Sunday November 11 by the Dental Council of India (DCI) vice-president Dr C Bhaskar Rao.

The basic aim of the DCI society, which is in fact the first-of-its-kind in the country, is to provide a common platform for specialists of prosthodontics restorative and periodontics from all over to meet each other and interact.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Bhaskar Rao in his inaugural speech stressing on the importance of prosthodontics and periodontics promotional work to be carried out by the ISPRP declared that  “this kind of inter-disciplinary society is the need of the hour in India to provide better dental care to patients.”

On the occasion, Dr Rajaram Naik was elected as the founder president of the society. The other elected office-bearers included Dr Jayaprasad as secretary, Dr Harish Shetty as joint secretary, Dr K S Rajesh as president-elect, Dr Chetan Hegde and Dr M S Arun Kumar as vice-presidents.

Moreover, several eminent persons were honoured at the function for their yeomen contribution in their respective fields. These included faculty members including Dr N Shridhar Shetty, Dr B R R Verma and Dr Sureshchandra who were felicitated.
