Mumbia, Jun 28 (Mid-day): A video has surfaced of a 21-year-old laying waste to Worli police station, as she slaps, kicks and abuses cops and damages police property after she was picked up for rash driving
Hell hath no fury like a woman drunk. This is what the Worli police discovered last week after it picked up a drunk 21-year-old student and her friends for rash driving, only to be stumped when she got violent and turned the police station upside down. A week later, a video of the incident has surfaced and shows the young woman slapping the officers, hurling abuses and ransacking the office.
On June 16, architecture student Gauri Bhide and her friends were caught for rash driving after she rammed her car over a divider and onto a footpath. But the police had no idea what they had gotten themselves into. When they took her to the police station, she lashed out at them in a drunken stupor.
The video shows Bhide kicking and slapping the cops, while her three friends — Chirag Bothra, Kapil Rathod and a minor – trying to hold her back. Despite that, Bhide managed to grab policemen by their collars, slap them and destroy police property.
In a matter of 10 minutes, she broke a windowpane, pulled wires out of a computer and threw the computer on the ground and smashed several cops’ phones. A police officer who was shooting a video of her antics also had to face her wrath.
When the cops and her friends finally managed to calm her down, the accused were taken to JJ hospital for their medical test. They were charged under Sections 279, 332, 353, 427 and 34 of the IPC and held in police custody for a night.
“She ransacked the whole police station and hit our cops. We got their custody for a day, after which they were released on bail. We are making a tight case against the accused,” said Senior Police Inspector Vinay Kulkarni from the Worli police station.
