Udupi: Wayward car takes away life of bystander

Udupi, Jun 28: A person standing by the roadside was killed by a car at Uppinakote on national highway 66 near Brahmavar on Sunday June 26.

The deceased has been identified as John D'Silva (83), a native of Uppinakote. John had left home on Sunday morning for Sastan to buy fresh fish from the fish market there. He was waiting by the roadside for bus, when he was hit by a car which came from the direction of Brahmavar. The car driver sped away without caring to stop.

John, who suffered grievous injuries and was bleeding profusely, was taken to Brahmavar hospital. However he died there by afternoon A case about the incident was registered in Brahmavar police station.
