Puttur: Protective wall crashes on house - woman suffers serious injury

Puttur, Jun 30: In an incident which happened at Laxminagara, Uppinangady, on Wednesday June 29, a woman suffered grave injuries after a protective wall caved in and crashed on her house due to heavy rain.

The house which bore the brunt of the resultant impact belongs to Rajeevi Bhandary, mother of Uppinangady gram panchayat member, Ramesh Bhandary. Baby (25), wife of Harish, brother of Ramesh, suffered deep injuries in this incident. She stands admitted into a private hospital in the town. Loss in the incident has been estimated at two lac rupees.

Uppinangady sub-divisional office of Mescom functions in a building that is located at a higher level. Due to heavy rain that lashed the area since three days, this protective wall built of stones crashed on the house of Bhandary. Some stones fell on Baby, inflicting critical injuries on her.

Senior Mescom officials, village accountant, panchayat development officer, village assistant, and gram panchayat members visited the spot and inspected the losses.
