Kejriwal gives Rs 1 crore compensation cheques to families of Ahmed, Khan

New Delhi, July 2 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday handed over cheques of Rs one crore each to the family members of slain NIA officer Tanzil Ahmed and NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) legal adviser M.M. Khan.

National Investigation Agency officer Ahmed was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants in front of his wife and children in Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh in April. The police arrested the main accused in the case on June 28.

M.M. Khan was shot dead in Jamia Nagar in Delhi on May 16, a day before he was scheduled to pass the final order on the lease terms of hotel 'The Connaught' which was functioning on a property of the NDMC, on May 16.

The compensation cheques came days after NDMC vice-chairman Karan Singh Tanwar accused the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) government of making false promises to the family of Khan.

Incidentally, AAP had alleged that Tanwar was also involved in the murder of Khan.
