Sonia condemns Baghdad bomb blasts


New Delhi, July 3 (IANS): Condemning the bomb blasts in Baghdad in which more than 80 people were killed early on Sunday, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said the world must unite to fight and defeat the forces of "terror and extremism".

"The past week has been terrible for humanity," she said. 

Expressing her deepest condolences to the families of those killed, Gandhi called for defeating terror and extremism which, she said, posed a serious threat to world peace and humanity.

Two suicide car bomb attacks at two crowded commercial areas in the Iraqi capital early on Sunday killed 84 people and wounded more than 130 others, officials said.
