Bengaluru: Aged couple murdered - police suspect role of land mafia

Bengaluru, Jul 6: An aged couple living in the city was savagely murdered by unknown assailants. Bodies of Muniyappa (68), retired officer of University of Agricultural Sciences and his wife, Varalaxmi (60) were found at their home at Vinayaka Nagar near Byatarayanapura here.

The son of the couple came back home after several days on Tuesday July 5, when the murder came to light. The throats of both the husband and wife were found to have been slit by a sharp weapon, and the bodies were decomposed.

The police, who have registered the case, guess that land mafia would have eliminated the duo. It is said that the murdered man owned property worth several crores of rupees. The police added that they have got some clues about the killers, based on CCTV footage.
