Udupi: Theft at Doddanagudde - family loses Rs 5.5 lac

Udupi, Jul 6: Thieves gained entry into a house at Doddanagudde here during the period the family was away from the town and decamped with gold ornaments and silver valuables totally valued at around Rs 5.5 lac. The house in question belongs to Raghavendra Somayaji.

Somayaji had left for Bengaluru along with wife and daughter on July 1 to participate in the death anniversary rituals of his mother. On his return on July 5 morning, he found that thieves had broken the lock of the house, entered the house, and stolen items by using keys found inside an almirah in the bedroom.

A case of theft has been registered at the town police station. Police have undertaken investigation.
