'Tiranga cake' : Court Issues Notice to Sachin Tendulkar

INDORE, Nov 18: Cutting a 'Tiranga cake' during the World Cup has landed Sachin Tendulkar in a legal soup as a local court issued a notice to the Little Master on Saturday asking him to present his case in the next hearing on December 15.

However, the court has exempted the cricketer from appearing in person for the hearing.

The special judge Mohammad Shamim's order in the matter came on a review petition filed by Rajesh Bidkar against Tendulkar, saying cutting of a 'Tiranga cake' by the cricketer was an insult to the national pride.

It maybe recalled that Tendulkar was caught in a controversy following the cutting of a 'Tiranga cake' during the World Cup against West Indies earlier this year in Jamaica.

Bidkar had filed a case against Tendulkar in the court of first class magistrate Udai Singh Marawi here, which was dismissed on June, 26 this year.

Alleging that Tendulkar had intentionally insulted the 'Tiranga', Bidkar had filed a review petition in the matter, Bidkar's lawyer Rajesh Sharma said.
