Ranchi, July 11 (IANS): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded 311-km Govindpur-Jamtara-Sahebganj road in Jharkhand will be completed by end of the month, a top state official said on Monday.

"The 311-km Govindpur-Jamtara-Sahebganj road will be completed by the end of July. This road has been divided in four segments. The Barhet-Sahebganj, 50-km road stretch has been completed, and the rest three -- Govindpur-Jamatara, Jamtara-Dumka, Dumka-Barhet have been completed up to 97 per cent," said Jharkhand's Road Construction Secretary Mast Ram Meena on Monday at a press conference here.

The total cost of the 311-km road is Rs 850.54 crore.

"The second phase of ADB funded four roads contract has been signed in March this year. The work will start soon. The four roads funded by ADB have a total length of 176.6 km and cost of construction will come Rs 723.12 crore," he said.

The road secretary informed media that the central government has in principle agreed to include 1,428 km state roads as National Highway. At present, Jharkhand has 25 National Highway roads of 2,612 km length.

In the current financial year, Rs 1,527.02 crore has been spent till June 30, which is around 38.18 per cent of total budgetary provision of Rs 4,000 crore for 2016-17. The expenditure last year was just 18.95 per cent.

Under PPP mode, Jharkhand is planning to construct the Ranchi-Bokaro-Dhanbad six-lane expressway and establish an industrial corridor connecting Ranchi, Dhanbad and Jamshedpur.

"For the Ranchi-Bokaro-Dhanabd Expressway, alignment, traffic study, topography survey have been completed. A Technical Feasibility report has been prepared. The next process will be soon decided by the state government," said Meena.
