Udupi, Jul 13: After a truck hit a motor bike opposite Unnathi Residency building near Inox Theatre, Manipal, the pillion rider was killed and the rider was injured. The accident occurred on Monday July 11 evening.
The deceased has been identified as Sudhakar Poojary. The injured bike rider was Diwakar Poojary from Badagabettu village. Both of them were moving towards Manipal from Ambalpady when a truck loaded with materials moved ahead, duly brushing the handle bar of the bike in the bargain. Diwakar Poojary lost his balance as a result, and fell into the storm drain. Sudhakar Poojary fell on the road, and reportedly the rear wheels of the truck crushed him.
Sudhakar Poojary, who was critically injured, died when being taken to Manipal hospital.
A case about the incident was registered in Manipal police station.
