Karkala, Jul 17: A girl student, who was disappointed at not being able to clear the SSLC examination, ended her life at Kadthala near Ajekar in the taluk on Friday July 15 afternoon.
The girl in question has been identified as Harshita (16), daughter of Geeta from Kadthala. Harshitha had appeared for SSLC examination held in March this year, but had failed to clear it. She again appeared for supplementary examination, but upon declaration of result, found that her name did not figure in the list of passed candidates.
Family members said that Harshitha was frustrated at this failure. She hanged herself from the ceiling fan at her house. A complaint about the tragic incident was registered in Ajekar police station.
