Kundapur: Youth injured in tragic accident in Ankola, succumbs

Kundapur, Jul 17: Kundapur T T Road resident Gururaj Poojary(29),seriously injured in a collision between a car and a tanker in Ankola, Uttar Kannada district on Tuesday, July 12 and admitted in KMC, Manipal has succumbed to his injuries on Friday late night, July 15 without responding to treatment.

Gururaj was one of the four children of T T Road resident Ananda Poojary. He was employed in a CC Camera and Computer shop in Kundapur. He was returning with his friend in owner's Duster car after installing CC Camera in Ankola when the collision between Duster car and the tanker has occurred. The Tanker had toppled and the front portion of the car was crushed in the impact. While Gururaj who was driving the car was seriously injured, his friend who was sitting in the front seat of the car had escaped unhurt. Residents rushed Gururaj to the local hospital and later to Manipal hospital as per the doctor's advice.

Gururaj was getting treated with the help of ventilator for the last three days but died later without responding to treatment. The dead body is brought to Kundapur on Saturday afternoon, July 16 after post mortem. Gururaj was unmarried and has left behind a large number of friends and relatives.
