5.0 magnitude quake jolts Japan


Tokyo, July 17 (IANS): An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale, jolted Japan's Ibaraki prefecture on Sunday, officials said.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the temblor was centred in Ibaraki, which borders the Pacific Ocean and is to the northeast of Tokyo, Xinhua news agency reported.

The jolt could be felt in central Tokyo, but there were no immediate reports of damage or issuing of a tsunami warning, the agency added.
