Mysuru, Jul 20: Assistant statistical officer in the city corporation here, S M Venkatesh Murthy, has filed police complaint, alleging that commissioner in the city corporation, C G Betsurmath, health officer, and an employee working at Karnataka Bhavan New Delhi have been mentally harassing him.

K R station police, who have considered the complaint as non-cognizable report, have begun investigation.

The complainant said that Mohan Kumar, working in Karnataka Bhavan at New Delhi, also functions as part time personal assistant to the chief minister, Siddaramaiah. He has alleged that under his advice, city corporation commissioner, Dr C G Betsurmath, and health officer, Dr Ramachandra, have been mentally torturing him. He further says that K R Puram MLA, Byrathi Basavaraju, who is also considered close to the chief minister, also keeps calling him over phone to threaten him. He says that he has recorded these conversations.

Venkatesh Murthy had earlier worked as personal assistant for the then minister, V Srinivas Prasad. "I joined Karnataka Bhavan New Delhi as assistant coordinating officer on November 13, 2015 on deployment. Mohan Kumar, assistant manager there, was expected to work as personal assistant when the chief minister visited New Delhi. But he did not do any work. As I complained about this to the city commissioner and chief minister, Mohan Kumar, by using his political connections, sent me back to my parent department on March 10 this year. I also brought into the open irregularities about appointment of employees of the Bhavan and promotions. MLA, Byrathi Basavaraju, called me to my cellphone, threatening me not to create problems for Mohan Kumar. Basavaraju called my wife at midnight, used derogatory language against me and posed murder threat. About this a complaint was filed in Saraswatipuram police station," he claimed.

He says that after he reported back at the city corporation, the commissioner had not allowed him attendance for 48 days with the support of health officer. "I am mentally being harassed. Therefore, suitable action should be taken against the officials concerned," Murthy said in his complaint.

Commissioner of Mysuru city corporation, C G Betsurmath, denied the allegations. He says that Murthy has been harassing the health officer and that complaint has been made to the city police commissioner. He added that Murthy faces allegation of several irregularities and that the previous commissioner had recommended him to be discharged from duty.
