Mangaluru, Jul 21: Some fellow-prisoners attacked an under-trial prisoner at the district prison here on the night of Tuesday July 19. The injured person was admitted into the district Wenlock Hospital here for treatment.
Narasimhamurthy, accused in a rape case and remanded to judicial custody, came under attack from others. In the incident, which occurred at the old building of the prison, the prisoners scolded him with filthy words before beating him up.
Recently ganja was found inside the old jail premises during a surprise raid. The other prisoners supposedly believe that the raid was conducted on the basis of information provided by Narasimhamurthy. Barke police have registered a case, and undertaken investigation.
