Bengaluru, Jul 22: After a container truck hit a two-wheeler near 40 Kannu Bridge at Laggere here on Thursday July 21, two persons died, while another was seriously injured.

Shylaja (52) and her two-year-old granddaughter, Tanishka, died in the accident. Shylaja's husband, Vijayakumar (63), suffered serious injuries and is being treated in a private hospital in the city.

Vijayakumar and his wife were going to Goruguntepalya to meet a doctor for health check up, in their two-wheeler. The accident happened at about 2 pm when they were nearing Goruguntepalya, policemen said.

The container truck that was moving at considerable speed, hit the motor bike from behind. Shyalaja and Tanishka fell to the left side, immediately after which wheels of the truck crushed them, killing them instantly.

Vijayakumar fell on the right side and hence was saved. Truck driver, Suresh, was arrested and produced in the court upon which he was remanded to judicial custody. A case was registered in Peenya traffic police station about this accident.
