Bengaluru, Jul 23: In connection with the leak of second pre university chemistry question paper, the high court, on Friday July 22, granted conditional bail to four of the arrested accused, Obalaraju, Ranganath, Rudrappa and Anil Kumar. These accused, booked under Karnataka Control of Organized Crimes Act, were finding it hard to get bail.

The single judge bench presided over by justice K N Phaneendra, which looked into the arguments put forth by both the sides, passed the above order.

Advocates appearing for the accused argued that the four accused had never got involved with organized crimes nor had they engaged in question paper leak in an organized way. They said that their clients were not able to get bail because they were booked under the above act.

The bench, after hearing arguments, granted bail to the four accused on a bond of two lac rupees each, two sureties and with the stipulation that they should present themselves before the investigating officer once every week.

Meanwhile, the high court also dismissed a petition filed against extension of investigation period against one of the accused, Eramallappa, by the lower court. This order was passed by the bench presided over by Justice Billappa.

The criminal investigation department police had requested the lower court to give additional time for completing investigation against Eramallappa and the court had given its nod. Eramallappa had questioned this in the high court, but the bench dismissed the petition.
