Disney's new princess Moana won't have love interest

Los Angeles, Jul 23 (IANS): Directors John Musker and Ron Clements say that the story of upcoming film "Moana" will focus on the character finding herself rather than looking out for romance.

The duo shared the information about the film at the ongoing San Diego Comic Con on Thursday. The directors surprised fans with various clips from the movie, including the film's first three minutes, reports ew.com.

Set 2,000 years ago in the South Pacific, "Moana" is the story of the titular 16-year-old girl, voiced by newcomer Auli’i Cravalho, who goes in search of a banished demi god named Maui (played by Dwayne Johnson) in order to, naturally, save the world. “Moana” releases in India on November 25.

Musker and Clements made a point to say that Moana doesn’t have a love interest in this story and that it’s a film about the heroine finding herself.

The directors, who've worked on “Aladdin”, “The Little Mermaid” and “Hercules”, also revealed that Johnson sings in the film with a song specifically written for him by one of Moana’s composers, Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton).
