Mangalore Hills – Revolutionising landscape of city

MIC’s multipronged approach to Mangaluru’s growth trajectory

Mangaluru, Jul 25: With information readily available on our fingertips in this era of digital communication, you think the intelligent people of Mangalore are well informed about the various developmental activities around them? If you really think so, then here is a revelation that might take all Mangaloreans by utter bewilderment. Mangalore Internet City (MIC) which is setting new benchmarks in the housing and IT sectors in Mangalore, had recently organised an outreach programme for Rotary and Lions Club members of Mangalore to acquaint them about ‘Mangalore Hills’, the first of its kind gated community housing project promoted by the company.

The company was astonished by the feedback it received from these elite people of Mangalore. The Rotarians and Lions feigned their ignorance about MIC’s pet project “Mangalore Hills”, which is coming up in a grand way in the heart of the city in Bondel with an equidistance of just 7 kms from the Airport and the CBD. “Mangalore Hills” has been making waves as the project has been touted as the futuristic project expected to bring about a paradigm shift in planning and executing housing and commercial projects. But people were oblivious of this major development taking place in Mangalore city.

When MIC team took them around the vast estate they were mesmerised by the aura of the project coming up in that pristine ambience. The 60 ft 4 lane entrance roads opening the gates to 75 acres of the picturesque landscape dotted with ultraluxurious villas was like a feast to their unbelievable eyes. These villas which signify the perfect blending of the architectural brilliance and magnificence, succeeded in arresting their attention leaving them wonderstruck. The participants in this outreach program were glad and they expressed their happiness and gratitude to the company for its efforts to apprise them about this project.

Needless to say,“Mangalore Hills” is the first and only kind of its project in Mangalore to have an integral development of commercial and residential with well planned with social amenities such as schools, hotels, primary healthcare and entertainment all under one roof. It has the ability and wherewithal to independently sustain its community. In fact, people could never foresee that such a project is becoming a reality in Mangalore. The project which envisages live-work-play kind of milieu is a completely novel concept to this city. These educated and informed people of Mangalore were also taken aback by the sheer magnitude, grandeur, the idyllic location of the project amidst the picturesque backdrop and the assortment of the projects lined up for the 3 phases of construction of Mangalore Hills. When completed, this project is sure to transform the landscape of Mangalore’s real estate scenario and will become Mangalore’s prized project.

Reaching out

The feedback was indeed an eye opener to MIC which has realised that it has to promote its project more vehemently and reach out to people so that they are not deprived of making the best use of the vast battalion of opportunities coming their way. Credit goes to MIC for being the harbinger of the concept of making Mangalore smart city in the true sense of the term, much before it became a buzzword following the awareness and activities initiated to be in the 100 ‘smart cities’ of the country. It must be remembered that MIC was conceived with the splendid idea of giving a big push to the economic growth of Mangalore and generate employment for locals. Generating employment in this district has become imperative to gainfully employ our educated youngsters in their native place. Employment generation will begin only when the third phase of the project is implemented. Many reputed IT companies have evinced keen interest in setting up their company in this IT Park and it really augurs well for the people of this city. Many start ups also will get an opportunity in the IT Park to test their entrepreneurial skills, which is also one of the motives of MIC. It goes to the credit of MIC that the French firm -“Interlog Services” has opened its second office in India in Mangalore at Mangalore Internet City Business Park in Bondel. In doing so, it is the first company to set up its premises in MIC Business Park giving a big boost to its efforts to generate employment. Interlog has already conducted a recruitment drive recently in association with MIC to employ local candidates to meet their job requirements and it received overwhelming response.

On completion of phase III of the project, the local economy will get a big boost as it is expected to create opportunities for around 5000 skilled jobs and an equal number of jobs in auxiliary industries and establishment. This really augurs well for a city like Mangalore which has been witnessing mass migration of its youth force to Bengaluru and other cosmopolitan cities in search of employment opportunities soon after completing their education. In fact, this migration of youth has been a major worrying factor to the people of the coastal city as the trend has huge impact on family life apart from socio-cultural repercussions. The IT Park developed by MIC is expected to create suitable skilled jobs and stop migration of youth to bigger cities, preventing Mangalore from becoming a city of the old.

Mangalore Internet City has been one of the flag-bearers of Mangalore’s brisk but welcome transformation into a cosmopolitan city. The 45 luxury villas that constitute phase I of Mangalore Hills designed on the lines of traditional Spanish architecture were handed over to the proud owners,a few months back. These villas showcasing the confluence of Spanish architecture and traditional Mangalorean aesthetics have won the hearts and minds of all those Mangloreans who value comfort, style andsubstance equivalent to global standards. These villas stand out because of their unique style, design, aesthetic value and breathtaking locale and have become value addition to Mangalore’s real estate scenario.

Mangalore has changed and changed for the better, though it has managed to hold on to its old-world-charm giving the city its distinct identity. MIC which was conceived and promoted to nurture and propel the coastal city’s economic growth trajectory has succeeded in essaying the perfect role of being the harbinger of modernity with a touch of tradition. It is commendable that the company has really strived hard to keep Mangalore’s charm intact and radiant in its efforts to put its development on the fast track.
