Tiger mauls woman to death in Chinese wildlife park

Beijing, Jul 25 (PTI): Siberian tigers at a Chinese wildlife park in Beijing have mauled a woman to death while badly injuring one of her companion when they steeped out of their car. Tigers at the Beijing Badaling Wildlife World pounced on one of the woman when she steeped out of her private car.

In the video posted on social media, a woman is seen stepping out of her car and going to the other side. In the shocking footage, as she has her back towards the park, a tiger is seen suddenly appearing from the park, pouncing on her and then dragging her away.

Her companion gets out from the car immediately followed by another lady in an attempt to rescue her.

The other woman tried to help her but was badly injured when she was attacked by another tiger, local media reported on Sunday. Video of the incident suggested park rangers in a vehicle were on the scene within seconds, but they were unable to save the woman. The local Yanqing district government has confirmed the tiger attack, saying the injured woman is being treated for her injuries.

The wildlife park, which has since been ordered to close, allows visitors to drive their own cars through an open space where the animals roam free. Visitors are allowed to drive in their private vehicles in the wildlife park but are not allowed to alight from their vehicles.
