Congress MP demands CBI probe into Narsingh Yadav's case

New Delhi, Jul 27 (IANS): Congress Member of Parliament Ranjeet Ranjan on Wednesday demanded a CBI probe into the entire case of wrestler Narsingh Yadav, who had flunked a dope test, jeopardising India's chance of a medal in the 74kg weight category at the Rio Olympics.

"The entire matter of Narsingh Yadav should be probed by the CBI and if anyone is found guilty then he should be punished," Ranjan said while raising the matter during Zero Hour.

Ranjan also raised apprehensions that this incident may lead Yadav to depression.

"Going for Olympics is a lifetime dream and players practise for this for a long time. It's a matter of investigation as to what really happened with Yadav. But being a sportsperson I can say that such incidents can lead a player to depression and can harm his career," she said.

Earlier, the matter was also raised during the Question Hour and responding to it Sports Minister Vijay Goel said after the final report of the anti-doping body, which is likely to be ready in a day or two, a final decision will be taken.
