New Islamabad airport to be fully ready by 2017


Islamabad, July 28 (IANS): The New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA), which can host A-380, the world's biggest passenger aircraft, will be fully operational by June 2017.

The schedule date of completion of all construction work of the project is December 25 this year, the Daily Times reported on Thursday. 

The first green-field airport in Pakistan, it is being constructed near Fateh Jang, some 20 km from Islamabad and 23 km from Rawalpindi.

The airport will have 90 check-in counters, parking for 22,000 vehicles, maintenance hangar, a 15-gate terminal with 10 remote gates, duty free shops and two runways.
